  2. It's identical, to one I drove. Traded it, for an '80 Mercury Cougar XR-7.

  3. One of my absolute all time favorites. Such a beautiful and elegant design. The late 70's early 80's were not exciting times for the automotive industry due to more strict regulations and requirements that continued to alter automotive design which unfortunately brought an end to the true American land yachts and the classic long hood extended length we all grew to love and admire. The 1981 New Yorker was the last of those beautiful land yachts and the last the classic Era of elegant design. A true masterpiece!

  4. Except for a tighter spaced grill this model was identical to the 79 model. These car were large but not heavy and could be hard to handle on rainy or icy roads. The design was very unique from all other makes with the rear quarter glass framed into the rear doors and with the two tone paint scheme of the 81s they were no doubt a gorgeous car.

  6. I had a 79 fifth ave was a delight to drive. I thought the brougham version with the tuffed leather seat was much more elegant. In 81 they did the formal grill two tone paint scheme and the tuffed leather seats. The prettiest of all.
